Hello everybody,
Fresh back from
SXSW in Austin and still reeling and recuperating! Pretty amazing stuff and for a newbie, took some getting used to. 1700+ bands in 5 days!
REM,
Carbon Silicon, North Mississippi Allstars, Old 97's and Ice Cube were my feature name highlights. Also, really got into some new bands (really the point, right?).
Sea Fields of Elephants,
Woodpigeon and
DeVotchka really made an impression with me. What it's all about, making impressions.
Last thought; Austin is a town I could live in. Music is an integral part of everyday life in Austin and the city embraces that. The ability to align the town with the music conference and the overall scene shows how a dedicated effort with plenty of determination can change the statue quo. Lots of music scenes in lots of towns could learn a lesson or two from the
Oasis in Texas.
And to all I met; it was a genuine pleasure and I'll see you; same time, same place. And to my golf scramble team, keep 'em in the fairway and see you on the course.
