It's no joke, the music industry is changing. People don't buy their records in B&M establishments anymore hardly, instead they are downloading high-quality digital audio by the
terabyte... what is a band to do? Simple, launch into
cyber-space!
The Dandy
Warhols have long been on the cutting edge of musical production, and they are taking that same sense of innovation into the commercial arena. With their latest release, "...Earth To The Dandy
Warhols...", the Portland based band opted to cut out the middleman and release their album directly from their
website. Not only that, but they took advantage of the direct contact with their fans to establish a communications link with their loyal fan-base and improve their
mailing-list.
Also, by offering a
fan-club membership that included not only a digital down-load of the new album, but also a flesh-and-bone hard copy sent to them in the mail, the
Dandys found a way to link the physical and digital realms and to reward their truest fans at the same time, while establishing a link to alert the fans that need to hear it about any new band developments.
FanMail wants to take this opportunity to congratulate the Dandy
Warhols on their latest success and to encourage all of you to check out their latest offering.
